Keeping British tennis on its feet

I have spent the past 12 years working as an Osteopath in professional Sport. Since graduating from the British School of Osteopathy in 1998 I toured the USA, Canada and Australia for two years as the sole medical practitioner to an Irish Dance Company- great fun and a giant leap into the world of elite sports medicine!
I returned to the UK and worked for the NHS and in private practice whilst studying for a masters in Sports medicine. I started working at Fulham Football Club. I enjoyed 6 years / football seasons working as part of a multidisciplinary medical team; it was an incredible experience, travelling both nationally and internationally looking after million-dollar footballers!
In 2007 I joined British Tennis / Lawn Sophie (right) with Laura Robson Tennis Association based at the National Tennis Centre in Roehampton where I work with two physiotherapists and a sports physician looking after the top British Tennis players including Andy Murray and Laura Robson. The job involves not only day to day care back at base but travelling with players to all the Grand Slam tournaments as well as the Fed cup.
One of my main areas of interest has been in developing elite athlete sporting profiles through musculoskeletal screenings and physical assessments. The aim: to obtain baseline data in order to aid with injury prevention and performance and from which training and rehabilitation methods can be adjusted and outcome measures can be obtained through retesting.
