Rob Merry writes: The Match-play final of the OCGS was played on a gloriously sunny but rather cold January afternoon at Sunningdale. It saw two best mates – both in the same year (left 2005), both in Loveday and ushers at each other’s weddings – head to head.
Garrett O’Reilly looked to be coasting to victory early on – 4 up after just 6 and 3 up at the turn. David Hobden then reduced the deficit to just 1 through 12 holes. However, Garrett was able to fight back & an entertaining match finished with Garrett the victor – 3 & 2.
