In May 2020 Toby Savill, North 2013 (left) and his co-founder James Perry launched Foodstuff in Cambridge. This new delivery service champions independent restaurants, pays riders Living Wage and delivers with zero emissions.
Foodstuff delivers food with zero emissions for the best independent restaurants in the industry so that foodies can order quickly and simply from local trusted brands.
By March 2021 they had launched in Bristol and in May they went live in Manchester and they have just launched Bath in June. Since launching in May 2020 to help local businesses in Cambridge survive during the pandemic they have done 26k orders and now have 110 restaurants on the platform across 4 cities.
With plans to launch imminently in 10 more cities by October 2022 Toby describes their approach to changing the face of delivery in the UK below:
- Sustainability – we are the first on demand food delivery company competing with the likes of Deliveroo to deliver with 100% zero emissions.
- Supporting local – we only work with independent, local and trusted brands contributing to local economics rather than big national chains.
- Rider welfare – we pay all of our riders Living wage with holiday and perks. We’re challenging the gig model that others in the industry rely on and are striving for the best working environment for riders in the industry.
Toby would love to hear from any OCs who might be able to offer advice for entrepreneurs or anyone who might like to hear more about investment opportunities (toby@wearefoodstuff.co.uk).
