The OCCC committee has decided to cancel all home games until the end of July, which means the 2020 cricket week will not happen.
While there remains uncertainty about the extent amateur sport will be allowed to resume, if at all, this summer, the decision was reached after consultation with the School. Had the week gone ahead then there would have been strict conditions under which we could have operated (which would have been the same as the School operates anyway) and furthermore there is already pressure on resources as half the groundstaff are currently furloughed.
It is hoped that we might be able to get a match against the School early in the Michaelmas term. As it stands, the games at Abinger Hammer (July 30) and Blackheath (August 9) are still going ahead.
