School 227 for 6 dec (Shanmugaval 113, Thomas 38) beat OCCC 120 (E Stiles 23, H Stiles 20, T Ealham 4-27, Majid 3-45) by 107 runs
For the second year running a young OCCC side was well beaten by the School. Once again our bowling lacked a cutting edge while our batting was unable to cope with the usual spin onslaught.
We started well with two quick wickets but that brought in the in-form Sachin Shanmugaval, who scored a hundred for us last August. He completed his second hundred of the summer with few wobbles (a third followed against Charterhouse three days later) and Adam Thomas showed real potential in a well-made 38.
A target of 228 was always going to be a tough call and although we reached 42 for 1 the seamers barely bowled long enough to see the ball scuffed let alone the shine come off it. The School then all but won the game as they turned to their two outstanding spinners, Yousef Majid and Tommy Ealham who proved far too good for us. The pair shared the captaincy in 2022 and they will spend the summer playing for Surrey 2nd XI.
